There are a number of ways to find out what is going on in North Carolina’s
classrooms. However, the most comprehensive, “one-stop shop” for public school
information is just a mouse-click away: the North Carolina School Report Cards
Web site. This site offers a collection of up-to-date data about student
achievement and attendance, class size, school safety, teacher quality,
school technology and other topics of interest to parents and others in the
school community. The site was developed to provide the big and small pictures
for many of the critical components of our students’ educational experience.
We hope the data on the School Report Cards Web site will help you engage
in informed conversations about public education with principals, teachers,
parents, school officials, business leaders and other members of your
community. We are all stakeholders in our students’ success. By working
together, we can improve our more than 2,500 public and charter schools and
make the future brighter for our young people and for our state.
